If you go to his blog, The Lazcanos, he has created a series of episodes called "Captain Fussy Buckets." Well, since Sean had this outfit that said "Captain Adorable" I found it only appropriate to start our own baby hero series. I want to thank my brother, Ben, for doing all of the editing and for actually producing this episode. The lighting is not so good because I recorded this one morning at 6am. Please excuse my dorky voices during the narration. Also, it was total improv, so there are some awkward silent moments in the dialogue where I was trying to think of what to say. So without further adieu, we bring you Captain Adorable. P.S. Keep an eye out for a cameo from Captain Fussy Buckets. :)

Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-40941053328798845522009-03-16T00:16:00.000-05:002009-03-16T00:19:20.848-05:00Recent photos...enjoy!

Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-25361253558841957092009-03-11T23:52:00.006-05:002009-03-12T00:33:35.883-05:00This is what we've been up to... Sorry this one is kinda blurry...yummmy, we love our food.

We take walks every chance that we get. We get up around 7 or 8, eat some rice cereal or oatmeal and then go back down for a nap from about 9 til 10:30. Then, we are back up and we play, run errands, take walk, play some more, eat/snack, until we just can't keep our eyes open any more at around 3ish and they are back down for a 2-3 hour nap. This is when I have "me" time. Sometimes I just sit and listen to music and other times I actually accomplish something like laundry, dishes, cleaning, but that all depends on how much sleep I had the night before. Yes, they are still waking up at night once and I don't sleep very well all night...I haven't really tried to Ferberize them yet because most of the time I catch up on sleep during the day. They turned 6 months on March 3. Sean weighed 14 lbs 14 oz. and Alexa weighed 14 lbs. 1 oz. He is 25 inches long and she is 24 inches long. They did really well with their shots this time. It was a lot easier on all of us. They are eating solids and boy do they love real food. Here are some 6 month pictures for comparison.

This is one of Alexa's favorite things to do...bath time!!! Today, Sean was shaking a toy that rattled and I caught Alexa laughing a deep belly laugh at him. He kept doing it and then would stop to hear her laugh and then do it again. He knew exactly what he was doing. It was sooooo cute. Of course I was not fast enough with the video camera to catch it. I need to work on that. Oh ya, and one more thing new this week. Sean says "uh oh." I know it sounds crazy but he did it like five times yesterday and it was all in context. Alexa had dropped her passy and he said it. Then later on, we were playing and I dropped a toy and he said it. So I dropped it on purpose three more time and he said it each time. My mother-in-law came over later and also heard him say it. Alexa, on more than one occasion said "hi." She will only do it if it is the first time she has seen someone in a while. For example, she only says it to me in the mornings. But she has said it to my mom when she comes to visit. I am constantly talking to these two all day long and I know they are picking up on things fast. They are at a very fun age. Greg and I are having a blast just being with them. We joke about how much fun we have on Friday nights and compare life to before. We wouldn't change anything and are enjoying our two sweet angels.
Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-63218536345666524572009-02-07T00:33:00.003-06:002009-02-07T01:20:05.325-06:00I am officially the worst blogger ever...

There have been many a late night that I have started blogging and someone starts crying...so I will admit I have attempted to write on a couple of occasions, but it seems like tonight (12:30 am) I may actually be able to finish a blog update...

Let's see...where do I begin...that last post was a video taken at my brother's house. That was our first road trip (3 hours) and the kids did great. We stayed the weekend and got much needed rest, believe it or not. We all (including Ben, Gena and Bennett) spent most of our time sleeping when the babies slept.

Since then we have had, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I will just post some pictures during those times.
This is close to their 4 month birthday.

This was their 3 month picture that I never posted. OOPS.
Baby Sean and Mommy...

The twins are growing so fast. At their 4 month check up, they each weighed 12 lbs. and were 23 inches long. I would say that Sean has changed, as far as looks go, the most. You wouldn't recognize him in his newborn pictures. He looks like a totally different baby. He is very happy and rarely cries. Alexa has more hair now, but still not enough to do anything with. She is full of smiles as long as she is not tired. She has to have her two 2-3 hour naps a day with two catnaps in between. Beauty sleep I call it. They are both really good nappers; no complaints there.

They just turned 5 months this week and we have started rice cereal. They love it. I knew it was time because they started waking up at 2 am to eat and were eating very frequently during the day. Yes...I am still nursing. I can't believe it either. It is very time consuming but I think this will be my last month. On a good night, they have their last feeding at 9:30pmish and go to bed around 10:30pm then they both wake up around 4am, eat and go straight back to sleep until about 7:00am. Both can roll from tummy to back and they just started pushing up all the way on their hands. They talk alot. Alexa wakes us up every morning talking/singing. It really sounds like she is singing. She has recently been saying "uh -uh". Sean likes to make "oh" sounds. Put those together and they say "uh-oh". They turn take really well when they interact. I guess that is the cool thing about twins; their communication skills are usually way advanced, since they always have someone to imitate, have eye contact with and listen to. Oh ya, Sean also loves to scream like a girl. Yes, I am talking about ear piercing yelps, especially when I am on the phone. It is sooooooo much fun now getting to interact with them. They both absolutely love reading books. They are really good scanners and will listen and pay attention to an entire Dr. Seuss book. That is how I get them both to fall asleep AT THE SAME TIME for their naps. It took me FOREVER to figure that out.

They really miss thier Tia Stefanie since she is in Uruguay (studying abroad). :( It is neat when we Skype with her because they get to see her on the computer and they both smile and talk to her in the microphone.

I am soooo tired right now and can barely keep my eyes open...I'm sorry if this post kind of jumps around all over the place and has poor spelling...I usually write better than this...but I just have so much to catch up on...it is now 1am and I need to get some sleep tonight. I hope I will be able to post more often now that they are getting older...but we will see. Goodnight. I haven't gone to the doc because I am afraid I will have to have surgery...so I have been wearing the wrist braces hoping they will heal themselves...I don't have numbness in my fingers anymore BUT I have lost range of motion with my thumbs on both hands and wrists. It makes changing diapers, putting on makeup, cooking, working out and most importantly, holding babies very difficult. I am also hoping to wake up one morning with no more pain. #3 My aunt, that was here helping me since July, went home last Saturday. :( We are very sad and miss her VERY much. She is an angel and I will never forget what she did for our family. So, I am officially 200% in charge of my little ones all day long. It is definately a full time job. Luckily I have wonderful Greg to help me in the evenings and at night. Except...Greg is going out of town next Sunday until Wednesday sooooooo...please pray for me. :) Okay, that is enough explaining. Now the real reason I am writing this blog. They turned one month old on October 3. Sean and Alexa are now weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 7 lbs. 5 oz. They are officially out of the preemie diapers...yay and Alexa has grown out of almost all of her preemie clothes. They each grew about two inches in length. We are eating every three hours during the day and we are getting one 4 hour stretch during the night...which make such a difference. We went on our first outing to some friends house for the Cowboy game last Sunday and we were so impressed on how well they behaved. That is all I have time for...Enjoy!
Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-47862632689786963342008-09-22T16:22:00.000-05:002008-09-22T16:51:47.368-05:00How 'Bout Them Twins, I mean, Cowboys...

Alexa was not as excited as Sean, but she did show her support for the Cowboys.

Here is Sean getting ready for the Cowboy game. We tried to take out the pacifiers but this shot was taken right before feeding time and the twins would have been really upset.

We are definately getting into a routine, at least when Greg is here. It is like they know when he isn't here. He has had to be such a huge part in helping with them and I couldn't ask for a better man. It really is amazing how someone who has never really been around babies, especially preemie newborns just naturally knows what to do in pretty much every situation. Our babies are wonderful and we have never loved like this before. Thank you to everyone who has sent gifts, food and who has visited just to hold a baby while I sleep or shower. :) I also want to note here that my aunt "Tia Goya" has been a God send. We would not be functioning the way we are without her.

They will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday and they are definately growing. We are still very sleep deprived but it is all worth it. I hope to be able to update this blog more often. Please leave a message. Okay...gotta go feed. I go to the doctor on the 10th and after that I go every other week and then eventually once a week. I have an ultrasound scheduled so hopefully I can put some updated pics of the babies on our blog. By the way, we came up with names...ready?...Sean Xavier and Alexa Joy...Greg and I both finally agreed and when we saw the 3D pics the names seemed to fit. They move soooo much now. I feel like they are arm wrestling in there sometimes. Sleeping is becoming more and more difficult. I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. Writing, typing, cutting, eyebrow plucking etc. have all become very difficult. I seem to drop things all the time. I hear it should go away afterwards, but there is no way I could confidently hold a newborn baby right now. That is really my only complaint. I am 27.5 weeks and we would love to go to 37 weeks. Keep us in your prayers please. I am trying to finish an externship. My last day is July 25th and then goodbye grad. school!!! I may be put on bedrest in early August. We will see what my doc says next week.

P.S. This picture was taken about a week and a half ago. Those are my friends Becky and Vania. Here I am at 22 weeks, no makeup and extremely tired. These babies are kicking all of the time now and Greg has been able to feel them for the first time this week. He is sooooo excited and I am soooooo exhausted...and excited :).

We get our 3D and 4D sono on Thursday. We can't wait. We still don't have any names picked out so if anyone has any ideas...we are listening. It is hard picking out two names.

Thank God tomorrow is Memorial Day so, hopefully we will get some rest.

I promise I will get better at blogging...V
Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-50305049676635114092008-04-26T09:14:00.000-05:002008-04-26T09:20:09.279-05:00Here it goes....I leave in 15 minutes to go and take, hopefully, the last major exam I will ever take in my life. It is amazing how one day can make you feel like it's life or death...but I am being ridiculous because it is just ONE day, one test and I have the rest of my life to live and be successful. Plus, I will be taking on a new job soon, Mommy, and I don't think that there is any test or class to prepare me for that. So...NESPA...here I come!! Wish me luck. VVanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-84259934876892503842008-04-11T15:48:00.000-05:002008-04-11T16:07:38.385-05:00Finally...I finally have time to sit at my computer and blog. I haven't posted any pictures of my growing belly yet...well... because we haven't taken any yet. Are we already horrible parents? I've always been really bad about not taking enough pictures. I need to learn, from B, how she does that. Do you walk around with a camera 24/7. All of Jillian's pictures are so good. You'd make a wonderful paparrazi person. :) Hmmmm...new career?

I've probably seen Greg a total of two hours per night this week because of my classes and him working late (playing golf.) But who can blame him we have had some perfect golf weather (besides the tornadoes). I am sure we will be playing this weekend.

Anyway, I can imagine that in the next few weeks I won't be able to write or post on here too much because I have my HUGE NATIONAL LICENSURE exam on April 26. I am requesting for prayers for my performance on this test. #1 It is 120 questions in 120 minutes. Yikes!!! #2 They don't let you leave once you have started the test and with two babies pushing on my bladder...we'll see! #3 I haven't taken a test like this in 5 years! So prayers would be nice. :)

I will try my hardest to get a picture of my "babies bump" on here this weekend. Remember I am new to this so bare with me. Have a good one!!! Our boy is baby A (top). He is head down and just loves to kick...hmmm? future soccer star? I can barely feel him but sometimes I do. We know 100% that he is a boy. He was 4oz. and a little over 5 inches long on Tuesday. You should have seen Greg's smile when we found out about him. We can't wait to meet him.

This is our baby girl (bottom). She was very good at posing for the camara. In this profile picture she is sucking her thumb (reminds me of her Tio Ben already...) We are about 85% sure she is a girl. She is also 4 oz. and over 5 inches long. She moved alot during the sonogram as well. She even looked like she was trying to talk to us by opening and closing her mouth. I also feel her move every now and then. Greg also had a huge grin on his face when we found out about her.

We are officially 15 weeks tomorrow. I am tired, starting to get big and moving is not as easy as it was. By Fridays I have almost no energy. I work all week and then go to class Tuesday and Wednesday nights. It has been rough! I want to send a shout out to Brittney P. who started this blog for me. Thanks B!! I gotta go walk my other baby, Diego, while I still can. Take care and I hope you like the pictures. I am so confused. Anyway, I hope I am doing this right...we'll see. I will have to return to this blog thing after class tonight so...stay tuned. :)Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-437893281095956018.post-37999484282466311512008-04-02T13:36:00.000-05:002008-04-02T13:37:15.914-05:00New BlogThis blog is created so that everyone can keep up with the progress of the Blasingame Twins who will make their grand appearance in September 2008!!!Vanessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05717495517569506852noreply@blogger.com0
