Captain Adorable - Episode 1

Please READ before watching: For those of you who don't know, my brother Ben has a four month old son named Bennett. If you go to his blog, The Lazcanos, he has created a series of episodes called "Captain Fussy Buckets." Well, since Sean had this outfit that said "Captain Adorable" I found it only appropriate to start our own baby hero series. I want to thank my brother, Ben, for doing all of the editing and for actually producing this episode. The lighting is not so good because I recorded this one morning at 6am. Please excuse my dorky voices during the narration. Also, it was total improv, so there are some awkward silent moments in the dialogue where I was trying to think of what to say. So without further adieu, we bring you Captain Adorable. P.S. Keep an eye out for a cameo from Captain Fussy Buckets. :)

This is what we've been up to...

Sorry this one is kinda blurry...yummmy, we love our food.

We take walks every chance that we get. Sometimes we go twice in one day. (I think I look like Octo-mom in this picture.)

We are on a pretty good routine now. We get up around 7 or 8, eat some rice cereal or oatmeal and then go back down for a nap from about 9 til 10:30. Then, we are back up and we play, run errands, take walk, play some more, eat/snack, until we just can't keep our eyes open any more at around 3ish and they are back down for a 2-3 hour nap. This is when I have "me" time. Sometimes I just sit and listen to music and other times I actually accomplish something like laundry, dishes, cleaning, but that all depends on how much sleep I had the night before. Yes, they are still waking up at night once and I don't sleep very well all night...I haven't really tried to Ferberize them yet because most of the time I catch up on sleep during the day. They turned 6 months on March 3. Sean weighed 14 lbs 14 oz. and Alexa weighed 14 lbs. 1 oz. He is 25 inches long and she is 24 inches long. They did really well with their shots this time. It was a lot easier on all of us. They are eating solids and boy do they love real food. Here are some 6 month pictures for comparison.

This is one of Alexa's favorite things to do...bath time!!! She smiles and giggles and talks the entire time.

Here is one of Sean's favorite things to do...he love to suck his toes...like I did when I was little.

They are finally starting to really interact. Today, Sean was shaking a toy that rattled and I caught Alexa laughing a deep belly laugh at him. He kept doing it and then would stop to hear her laugh and then do it again. He knew exactly what he was doing. It was sooooo cute. Of course I was not fast enough with the video camera to catch it. I need to work on that. Oh ya, and one more thing new this week. Sean says "uh oh." I know it sounds crazy but he did it like five times yesterday and it was all in context. Alexa had dropped her passy and he said it. Then later on, we were playing and I dropped a toy and he said it. So I dropped it on purpose three more time and he said it each time. My mother-in-law came over later and also heard him say it. Alexa, on more than one occasion said "hi." She will only do it if it is the first time she has seen someone in a while. For example, she only says it to me in the mornings. But she has said it to my mom when she comes to visit. I am constantly talking to these two all day long and I know they are picking up on things fast. They are at a very fun age. Greg and I are having a blast just being with them. We joke about how much fun we have on Friday nights and compare life to before. We wouldn't change anything and are enjoying our two sweet angels.

I am officially the worst blogger ever...

There have been many a late night that I have started blogging and someone starts crying...so I will admit I have attempted to write on a couple of occasions, but it seems like tonight (12:30 am) I may actually be able to finish a blog update...
Let's see...where do I begin...that last post was a video taken at my brother's house. That was our first road trip (3 hours) and the kids did great. We stayed the weekend and got much needed rest, believe it or not. We all (including Ben, Gena and Bennett) spent most of our time sleeping when the babies slept.

Since then we have had, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I will just post some pictures during those times.
This is close to their 4 month birthday.

This was their 3 month picture that I never posted. OOPS.
Baby Sean and Mommy...
The twins are growing so fast. At their 4 month check up, they each weighed 12 lbs. and were 23 inches long. I would say that Sean has changed, as far as looks go, the most. You wouldn't recognize him in his newborn pictures. He looks like a totally different baby. He is very happy and rarely cries. Alexa has more hair now, but still not enough to do anything with. She is full of smiles as long as she is not tired. She has to have her two 2-3 hour naps a day with two catnaps in between. Beauty sleep I call it. They are both really good nappers; no complaints there.

They just turned 5 months this week and we have started rice cereal. They love it. I knew it was time because they started waking up at 2 am to eat and were eating very frequently during the day. Yes...I am still nursing. I can't believe it either. It is very time consuming but I think this will be my last month. On a good night, they have their last feeding at 9:30pmish and go to bed around 10:30pm then they both wake up around 4am, eat and go straight back to sleep until about 7:00am. Both can roll from tummy to back and they just started pushing up all the way on their hands. They talk alot. Alexa wakes us up every morning talking/singing. It really sounds like she is singing. She has recently been saying "uh -uh". Sean likes to make "oh" sounds. Put those together and they say "uh-oh". They turn take really well when they interact. I guess that is the cool thing about twins; their communication skills are usually way advanced, since they always have someone to imitate, have eye contact with and listen to. Oh ya, Sean also loves to scream like a girl. Yes, I am talking about ear piercing yelps, especially when I am on the phone. It is sooooooo much fun now getting to interact with them. They both absolutely love reading books. They are really good scanners and will listen and pay attention to an entire Dr. Seuss book. That is how I get them both to fall asleep AT THE SAME TIME for their naps. It took me FOREVER to figure that out.

They really miss thier Tia Stefanie since she is in Uruguay (studying abroad). :( It is neat when we Skype with her because they get to see her on the computer and they both smile and talk to her in the microphone.

I am soooo tired right now and can barely keep my eyes open...I'm sorry if this post kind of jumps around all over the place and has poor spelling...I usually write better than this...but I just have so much to catch up on...it is now 1am and I need to get some sleep tonight. I hope I will be able to post more often now that they are getting older...but we will see. Goodnight. V

A Little Late

Okay so I have some explaining to do on why I haven't posted anything in a while. #1 I have Twins...enough said, #2 My carpal tunnel syndrome has gotten worse in the last couple of weeks and it hurts really bad to type...ouch. I haven't gone to the doc because I am afraid I will have to have surgery...so I have been wearing the wrist braces hoping they will heal themselves...I don't have numbness in my fingers anymore BUT I have lost range of motion with my thumbs on both hands and wrists. It makes changing diapers, putting on makeup, cooking, working out and most importantly, holding babies very difficult. I am also hoping to wake up one morning with no more pain. #3 My aunt, that was here helping me since July, went home last Saturday. :( We are very sad and miss her VERY much. She is an angel and I will never forget what she did for our family. So, I am officially 200% in charge of my little ones all day long. It is definately a full time job. Luckily I have wonderful Greg to help me in the evenings and at night. Except...Greg is going out of town next Sunday until Wednesday sooooooo...please pray for me. :) Okay, that is enough explaining. Now the real reason I am writing this blog. Here are some recent pix.
This was taken on Halloween. Sean is on the left and Alexa is on the right. They really look alike in this picture.

Greg's mom bought these cute outfits for the babies.

Here are the twins on their two month birthday. Alexa weighed 9.6 lbs. and Sean weighed 9.3 lbs. He is catching up to her.

Well I gotta go feed. I hope you all enjoy this post. TTFN! V

The Twins are One Month Old...

I am borrowing B's great idea about taking pix with a bear every month. They turned one month old on October 3. Sean and Alexa are now weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 7 lbs. 5 oz. They are officially out of the preemie diapers...yay and Alexa has grown out of almost all of her preemie clothes. They each grew about two inches in length. We are eating every three hours during the day and we are getting one 4 hour stretch during the night...which make such a difference. We went on our first outing to some friends house for the Cowboy game last Sunday and we were so impressed on how well they behaved. That is all I have time for...Enjoy!
